Description[]
Carrying armor usually reserved for 'Mechs three times its size, the quick darting Glass Spider (not to be confused with the clan Galahad's intersphere designation) accomplishes the most vital part in any C3 network operation: to get close to the enemy's BattleMechs while remaining intact. Carrying fourteen and a half tons of Hardened Armor keep the 'Mech so well protected from enemy fire that its speed is almost overshadowed. Not that a top speed of over 100 km/h is anything to balk at, especially considering the heavy weight of the armor somewhat shaves off the maximum speed. The cockpit is a little cramped, but most MechWarriors are forgiving of a 'Mech that can survive anything up to a Heavy Gauss Rifle to the head and survive. Double heat sinks keep the 'Mech cool even while firing its laser array, and the all imporant C3 Slave computer constantly updates the firing telemetry of its heaver brethren.
Armament[]
Four Ceres Arms Extended Range Medium Lasers slaved to a lightweight special model Dynatec Special Targeting Computer give the Glass Spider firepower that can't be overlooked. Able to sting even the largest of 'Mechs, the lasers coupled with its speed and heavy armor make it more then a match for other 'Mechs of its weight class, even clan models.
Variants[]
- GLS-12b replaces the targeting computer with Target Acquisition Gear and acts as a highly mobile spotting unit.
