Description[]

Designed For use in the Lyran Commonwealth, the Steyr design was quickly purchased for use within AusCorps Australia Intervention Force. Pilots of the 'Mech were quick to nickname the design Stayer for its incredible longevity in any situation. This is due to its normal engine, Ferro-Fibrous armor and all-energy weapons array.

Armament[]

The Steyr is equipped with only energy weapons to allow it to operate for extended periods. A Heavy PPC is mounted in the right torso to provide the main long range firepower. This fantastic weapon is as powerful as a gauss cannon, however uses no ammo. The downside is its incredible heat levels and shorter range. For short range engagements, it mounts a Large Pulse Laser in the right arm and two Medium Pulse Lasers mirroring the Heavy PPCs position in the left torso. Fifteen double heat sinks struggle to control this 'Mech's heat.

Variants[]

STR-2 - The Lyran Commonwealths version of the Steyr, it was less popular with the AIF but the LC loved the design. The design is almost completely reworked. It now mounts an XL Engine to save weight, and only thirteen Double Heat Sinks. It also mounts standard armor but twelve tons of it. The armament is also very different, an LRM-20 replaces the Heavy PPC. It has two tons of reloads and is linked to an Artemis IV FCS. CASE protects the missile reloads. The Large Pulse Laser is retained, but the Medium Pulse Lasers are swapped for an ER Large Laser and two ER Medium Lasers.
